Yagami Ryu

Ren Yagami

.
What makes YAGAMI RYU so fascinating?
Developed by Ren Yagami, elements of martial arts influence the type of tying up and form a symbiosis whereby bodies can be moved, controlled and immobilized effectively and efficiently and in a way that is gentle on the body in order to incorporate this into an erotic interaction. The aim is to improve communication and emotional closeness between the tying partners.
“Obviously I do semenawa, but I prefer to consider that what I do is sekibaku. Sekibaku means threatening to tie (i.e. the persistency through the tie), but not only with rope. The persistency must come from my own presence, energy, and demeanor delightfully combined with the use of the rope.“
- Ren Yagami
Ren Yagami's approach to Shibari goes beyond the physicality of rope bondage; he delves into the world of trust, vulnerability and profound communication between the artist and his model. Yagami aims to create an environment where people can explore their innermost desires, express their feelings and experience the exquisite interplay between being bound and liberated.
In contrast to other styles, Yagami Ryu uses few predefined figures (kata), but relies on basic techniques that are learned and executed precisely and meticulously.
This allows unique sessions to be combined and created, as well as customized. With the basics of YAGAMI RYU learned, everyone can develop their own Shibari style - in this sense Ren Yagami opens the way for the introduction of other aspects such as erotic fantasies, so that deep sexual desires and intentions can also be explored.
His workshops abroad are always demanding (we can confirm this), because
"What I would teach in a year in Japan, I teach here in a day-which means you can expect a challenging workshop. Nevertheless, I hope that everyone will have the opportunity to expand their skills and learn basics that will still be useful ten years from now."
– Ren Yagami
REN YAGAMI is one of the young rising stars in the Japanese Shibari scene
and is a high-ranking Aikido master who has studied martial arts since childhood. The combination of body control and rope application
makes his style particularly powerful.
ASAKO - accompanies Ren on his stays abroad and is one of his regular models.
She takes on several roles for Yagami, including model and interpreter (English / American):
She has excellent body awareness and always gives
input in the workshops from a model's point of view.
This means that not only the riggers but also the models benefit from the workshops with Asako.

The workshop will take place on our own Dojo.
Address:
ZENDO | Raum für achtsame Begegnung (Space for mindful encounters)
Stuttgarter Straße 42/2
71726 Schwieberdingen
GERMANY
In principle, everyone is responsible for their own personal tying equipment and please bring this with you. Those who prefer to be tied up on the ring should also bring suitable equipment.
We will of course provide the bamboo.
★ Ropes: at least 5-7x 8m natural fiber ropes (hemp/jute) in 5-6mm diameter depending on personal preference. It is also helpful to have shorter ropes in the set.
★ Dress code: “clothing suitable for tying”
Our ZENDO is a shoe-free zone - so a pair of warm socks won't hurt.
★ Ankle support: Please bring an ankle support such as a yoga mat and/or blanket. Please understand that we cannot guarantee space for large tatami mats or two tatami lying next to each other.
Max. Size: 140x200cm
★ Drinks are available for a small contribution towards expenses
★ We provide small snacks
★ Main meal = self-catering (local supply in the immediate vicinity) Directly opposite our Dojo there is a Supermarket and a bakery where you can stock up for the weekend.
There may also be other participants on site to order food together.
The local accommodation options are unfortunately very limited, so we would like to recommend hotels in Ludwigsburg (approx. 15 min drive by car) or Korntal-Münchingen (approx. 10 min drive by car).
★ Korntal-Münchingen
"Elaya Hotel” is also recommended. We know that other participants have already booked there and there may be an opportunity to travel to our studio together.
★ Ludwigsburg
In our opinion, the "Ibis Budget" in Ludwigsburg offers the best value for money with its newly renovated rooms.
We have also had very good experiences with the "HARBR. Hotel" in Ludwigsburg was also very good.
If you prefer to enjoy your breakfast outside the hotel, you can do so from either hotel in Ludwigsburg city center, which is within walking distance.
Ludwigsburg is also known for its beautiful baroque city center ;-)
★ If you would like to use public transport, we would recommend a hotel in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen or Feuerbach, such as the B&B Hotel near the Porsche Museum.
Seats are very limited - in order to give people outside our catchment area the opportunity to attend the Performance Night with Ren Yagami & Asako, we are collecting all registrations until 25. April 2025
After that the lot decides who can be there. You will be informed accordingly afterwards.

This is a unique opportunity to take the first step towards SHODEN graduation in Yagami Ryu.
This workshop is the first of four Shoden seminars and marks the debut of SHODEN certification in Yagami Ryu in Europe.
The Shoden seminars are a series of four workshops that focus on the fundamentals of rigger certification in Yagami Ryu. The seminars build on each other and offer participants the opportunity to deal intensively with the techniques, principles and philosophy of Yagami Ryu. The workshops are practice-oriented and promote both individual learning and exchange among the participants. The aim is to accompany the participants on their way to full certification and to create a solid foundation in Yagami Ryu.
The Shoden degree is required in order to study the Yagami style intensively and then apply for the teacher's certificate.
Places are very limited - Ren personally selects the participants.
EUR 1.000,-€
* 200,-€ deposit / balance can be paid in cash or via PayPal on 6.6.
This workshop is aimed at all those at a professional level with appropriate knowledge who have chosen Yagami Ryu for themselves and want to perfect it.
The workshop is the first of its kind in Europe. Three more will follow in other countries and cities to complete the certification.
Participants will be personally selected by Ren. For this purpose, it is necessary to apply and to present one's application, skills and motivation.

Yagami Ryu - Fundamentals
Saturday, June 07, 2025
1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
[Level: higher Beginner]
In our Fundamental Workshop we will get an introduction to Ren Yagami's thinking and restraints and work on the basic skills of the Yagami style.
This workshop is suitable for people who are new to this style, but also for existing students who want to improve and intensify or perfect their skills.
Compared to other styles, you will learn some new techniques, because the Yagami-Ryū differs significantly from the bondage styles that participants have learned so far - this is because its style of bondage strives to explore the origins of Shibari in the martial arts (budō). The techniques of budō form the basis of yagami-ryū. Therefore, working with the focus of the body will be a key role in this workshop (*):
(*) The content will be adapted to the participants' tying skills and learning speed. Ren Yagami is free to change the content at any time at his own discretion.
In addition to the practical part, there will also be room for the exchange of experiences and individual adjustments so that each participant can take away valuable insights.
Learn the master's body manipulation skills and iconic rope forms - this workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to learn from Ren Yagami personally and explore and discover his style for themselves. It provides a solid introduction to the techniques and principles of Yagami Ryu - because in no other style are the details, body manipulation and body control so important.
EUR 489,-€
This workshop is aimed at anyone who is looking for an introduction to YAGAMI STYLE.
You should already have solid basic knowledge (SCT/ Hon Musubi plus first simple patterns and rope flow) and be ready to take your skills to the next level. You will learn how to establish deeper communication with your partner through efficient tying techniques and targeted body movements.

This workshop is intended for all those who are familiar with the basic principles and approaches of YAGAMI STYLE and identify with them.
(e.g. “Fundamentals” workshop or have already attended a Yagami style workshop)
You should also have some experience with suspensions.
As a rigger / active part, you are familiar with the basics such as single (Hon Musubi) / double coloumn tie in different situations, e.g. on legs, arms, from different directions, and you are familiar with the most common friction and tention handling.
As a basis, you can reliably tie up a stable, suspendable upper body tie, e.g. TK/Gote, and are familiar with upline management, i.e. Tsuri / Zuri on bamboo and/or ring including safety devices. You are familiar with the safety basics (risk of injury, hand controls, etc.) and your own risk profile and that of your model.
As the bottom/passive part, you know your own physical and mental risk profile and the limits of your body in relation to potential dangers such as nerve damage or fainting etc. and know what an upper body restraint (box tie) feels like, even under strain/in a suspension. You will be familiar with the stages of hand function and feel the difference between blood congestion and nerve damage.
Yagami Ryu - Intimacy | Pain & Pleasure
Sunday, June 08, 2025
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
[Level: higher Beginner]
In Yagami Ryu, the integration of erotic interaction has a special significance. Learn the advanced techniques of Yagami Ryu for Taijyutsu (body manipulation/dominance) and control of the nervous system for arousal, ecstasy and intimate play.
We take a closer look at the so-called pleasure points in the body and how we can use them in Yagami Ryu with its Taijyutsu and Shibari techniques for arousal and intimacy.
The point of ecstasy can also be understood as orgasm control.
(*) The content will be adapted to the participants' tying skills and learning speed. Ren Yagami is free to change the content at any time at his own discretion.
In addition to the practical part, there will also be room for the exchange of experiences and individual adjustments so that each participant can take away valuable insights.
